Dark brown in color with a thumb thick tan head. Medium roastiness in the malts with a mildly chocolate and hopsy finish I would drink it as a staple if it were availible here. Aroma of sweet malts and roasted chocolate. Taste is a bit fizzy, but has caramel, and roasted malts. I taste some hops to bitter this and balance it out. I enjoyed this , and must say, thanks rich. Speaking of Rich, I have to give kudos because this bottle was very fresh. My wife sampled it and she loved it. I saw a black amber tone with a medium finish. Its not as dry as most porters go and there was just a mild roasted bitterness to its character and I suspect some nuttiness in there somewhere. Its pretty light for this genre but quite tasty. drpimento (842), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 8, 2005 Pretty good stuff. Allergies don’t permit me to fully realize all attributes here. What I can say is that it is not quite opaque, pours a nice thick, lingering head with lots of lace; good clean nose with definite chocolate aromas along with malty, roastiness. Flavor is vary similar to nose. A little sharpness from maybe roasted barley and/or black patent. Good rich mouthfeel. Got this in a beer of the month shipment. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA

A medium to full bodied porter. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hops are slightly bitter and spicy. Balance leans way towards the malts. Still a good solid porter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA

Dark, cherry-red body under a tan, oily head that disappeared but left some slippery lace. Somewhat subdued aroma of deep, dark roasted malt that was a bit nutty. A hint of sour milk emerged over time. Flavor was thoroughly roasted with a smoky, lightly bitter finish. Full-bodied with a creamy texture. If it were just a touch hoppier...

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 28, 2005 Pours a dark brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Smell is of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is of chocolate and oatmeal with some raisins present. This one’s good, but not what I’m used to from a porter. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2005 Deep and dark in color, clear, with a medium tan head and some lace. Burnt malt aroma along with some chocolate. Flavor isn’t as burnt, more roast, chocolate comes through again, very mild bitterness on the finish. A touch light, but quite drinakble. Pretty nice.
