Dense tan head with good lacing over a very dark brown color. Nice roasted malt aroma. Earthy taste tilted more towards the bittersweet, maybe because it was well hopped. Full-bodied flavor with a crisp, pleasant finish.

Beer pours (in Chimay glass) a very dark liquid that light has trouble penetrating with very little caramel-colored head unless adgitated that dissipates quickly leaving a thin film of head. Aroma is of sweet syrup, molasses, candy corn, and fruit. Flavor is an explosion of roasted coffee with small, very small hoppiness that quickly turns to a bitter ending. Very pleasant beer although it carries a sickly sweet character. Sampled at 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

A crystal clear, very dark ale. Only when held up to bright light can the crimson hue be seen darting about the pint glass. The aroma is of chocolate, butterscotch and vanilla. White chocolate and milk chocolate flavor. A touch on the sweet side. An attempt is made with bittering hops, but balance is not achieved. Very astringent, though. Medium-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, bitter, dryish finish. A lot of nice things going for this brew!

Dark rich appearance with smooth semi-sweet flavor, balanced by chocolate undertones. Very good complex brew!!!

Black as can be with big frothy head. Aroma of malt and light hops. no hops in the taste, but flavors of coffee and definately chocolate. Super smooth drinking clean finish, not at all bitter.
