Mahogany. Smells of sugars and plums. Mildly smoky and peaty, some maple and toffee sweetness along with plums and candy sugars. Decent wintery brew.

In the bottle. My favorite of the 3 Blue Ridge Ales I had on my trip to Rockville for Study Section. Dark brownish-amber in color with a beige head. Roasted caramel aroma. Sweet and mouthcoating. Does not seem very "strong" but still gives you something to taste.

Deep clear reddish-brown color with a decent off-white head that leaves a good lacing in my glass, fruity and malty aromas. Smooth nutty and caramel flavors, medium bodied with mild carbonation, nice creamy and smooth mouthfeel, finishes kind of sweet, alcohol well hidden until it warms, not as good as I remember, still a nice winter ale.

Clear dark amber/cola coloured body with a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fresh english hops, curaco (orange peel) and some light spices. Medium-bodied; Strong malt up front fading to a caramel presence and a nutty background flavour. Aftertaste shows some toffee with little else aside from water. Overall, a decent beer, but definitely not good, ESPECIALLY for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased by jon[r888710] at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquours in Washington, D.C. on 14-November-2004 with him.

Brownish-red body, dark and clear. Head is cardboard colored and barely there. Smells of pit fruit malt, dough, lager hops. Taste is sweet with chocolate hops, winter spices, clove, harsh pencil-shaving/metallic hops and strange bitters. Aftertaste is choc full of the asaid metallic hops and chocolate malts. Not a very good beer nor is it truly a winter. You could do a lot better, just like Jeremy with the Pistons. Purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors.

12 oz bottle. Orangish brown in color with a tan head that fades. Clear. Caramel malty aroma. Slightly roasty in the finish. Not bad. Decent.

12 oz bottle. Orange brown with a tan head that fades, and clear. Carmel malty aroma and flavor. Slightly roasty finish. THis beer says Christmas Party and snow to me.

This beer rocks... Crystal clear, mahogany ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Very good retention and sparse lacing. The aroma is nutty and chocolatey with notes of cinnamon and caramel. Malty, sweet flavor with some nice, astringent hops. Brown ale-like except it’s more full-bodied than most. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Lengthy, creamy, malty finish. World class Winter warmer from Blue Ridge! Underrated.
