Aroma is nutty and soft, with hints of chocolate. Good, chewy texture, palate is full with malt, and some slight hoppiness behind. Full bodied. Sweet, caramelly notes shine through in the middle and continue through the finish. Lacks just a bit in flavor and spice, for a winter brew.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2003 I used to look forward to this one every year. It varied year-to-year but it was always a malty treat. Nutty flavors with good hop bitterness were typical. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2003 Darnit! I so wanted to try this head-to-head with the Wild Goose Snow Goose as dberger624 did, since they're brewed by the same brewery, but it wasn't meant to be. Anyway, the Snowball's Chance is a hoppy, very malty, slightly spicy affair. Nuttiness abounds, but I could do with a little more sweetness. Question regarding the label: why has the snowman depicted drawn a giant triangle in the snow (and how did he do that when he has no legs?)? Questions of snowman mobility aside, this could double as a hoppy brown ale in any quality brewer's lineup. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2003 Since they are both brewed by the same company I tried this with the Wild Goose Snow Goose at the same time to see if there is any difference. And yes there is a difference. Very slight but it's there. The Snowball is a little lighter and a little hoppier then the Snowgoose.
