Tap. Sweet cherry malt aroma. Cloudy amber color with a small head. Bitter citrus hops blended with caramel malt. Very nicely blended. A very nice beer.

Draught. Amber pour with a nice white head. The scent is more American than British with mild caramel, pear, and citrus notes. A bit of peat comes out in the flavor and burned caramel. This is not very bitter at all, actually. It’s biscuity with just a hint of woody notes in the finish. Boring, but not offensive.

On tap at the brewpub in downtown Greenville. Aroma of musty feet, with some overripe fruit. Medium copper color, very slight head. Some muted citrus with a decent bitter back end with hints of caramel. Flavor helps redeem this one which was almost sunk with the bad aroma. Mouthfeel is rather clumsy and odd feeling though.

An earlier reviewer said this had a "dry, resiny hop flavor, with a savory, peppery finish." I can’t sum this beer up any better than that. If you’re in the brewput, give it a try, but don’t go out of your way.

Sampled at Charlotte Oktoberfest ’05. Amber coloring with a beige head. I can’t really explain the flavor of this one - someone beside me said it tasted like a cookie. Caramel or toffee, maybe? There just wasn’t any balance to it... something about this beer just didn’t sit well with me.

Copper, nice white head. Rye bread aroma. Dry, resiny hop flavor, with a savory, peppery finish. Nice brew. Called "Foothils Rainbow Trout ESB" here. Sampled at 2004 Asheville Brewgrass Festival.

sort of flat tasting, and really not what i was looking for when i was in the condition i was when this beer was sampled. dark colored and not too much aroma. not something id order, but at a festival, any beer is game. sampled at brewgrass 04 on draught.

This was another brewgrass brew that was very good. Had a nice smooth flavor that was a good balance of flavor.
