The scent is more American than British with mild caramel, pear, and citrus notes. A bit of peat comes out in the flavor and burned caramel. This is not very bitter at all, actually. It’s biscuity with just a hint of woody notes in the finish. Boring, but not offensive. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 17, 2006 On tap at the brewpub in downtown Greenville. Aroma of musty feet, with some overripe fruit. Medium copper color, very slight head. Some muted citrus with a decent bitter back end with hints of caramel. Flavor helps redeem this one which was almost sunk with the bad aroma. Mouthfeel is rather clumsy and odd feeling though. Amator (29), USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2005 An earlier reviewer said this had a "dry, resiny hop flavor, with a savory, peppery finish." I can’t sum this beer up any better than that. If you’re in the brewput, give it a try, but don’t go out of your way. UNCCTF (465), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

I can’t really explain the flavor of this one - someone beside me said it tasted like a cookie. Caramel or toffee, maybe? There just wasn’t any balance to it... something about this beer just didn’t sit well with me. Suttree (2743), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
