Draft at the brewpub. Light amber in color with a wispy thin white head. It was hard to get much aroma out of the serving glass, but I got a small note of sweet malt and some alcohol. Flavor was caramelly, sweet, and malty, pretty standard for a barleywine. Not a whole lot of hops in this one. Ho hum. Don’t make a special trip for it or anything...

Clouded dark pour. Little aroma. Alcohol is very apparent. Sweet finish. A nice effort.

Draft at brewpub 8/28/08-Poured a medium golden with a small white covering for a head. Had an aroma of hops, pine, and yeast. Taste of grapefruit, bitterness, and prunes. This medium bodied brew was in no way a barley wine. It had no malt or sweetness.

The beer poured a slightly hazy red brown with a thin head. The nose was dominated by high alcohol with notes of sweet malts and dark fruits. The taste was what I expected from the nose it was deep and sticky with a heady feel of alcohol. The finish was something I couldn’t put my finger on, but it was a flavor I had gotn from there other beers so it might be the yeast or the malts.

On tap at Blue Star; served in a goblet. Poured a murky, brownish-red with only the faint hint of a head. Aroma of sweet malt; caramel and fruit. Didn’t pick up on any hops. Flavor was a bit strange for the style; the flavors weren’t entirely different, its just something that I couldn’t put a finger on. Good amount of sweetness; all in all, it was pretty solid, if a bit weird.

Served in a goblet!! Hazy dark gold with a nice small white head. Nose of malts, sweetness. Nice mouthfeel and tastes bitter! A bit (!) alcoholy, spicy, a light malt background. Unlike any barleywine I’ve ever had. Glad to see it on tap when I visited.
