(Growler, courtesy of Swalden 28) Pours a clear amber with small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grass, butterscotch, and raisins. Flavor of caramel, grass, and raisins with bitter finish.

I'm not usually a barley wine fan, but this one was really good (bad news for real barley wine drinkers?). Golden amber. Smooth! Sugary, alcohol tones like you'd expect, but nicely mellow. Very good.

Draught at Blue Star Brewing Company, San Antonio, Texas.
Nice creamy off-white head on a clear copper body. Very sweet caramel aroma, maybe a little too sweet!? Also sweet caramel flavor with some bitterness behind the sweetness. Some alcohol present. This is like caramel-liqueur. Very different and interesting.

On tap at Blue Star; served in a goblet. Poured a murky, brownish-red with only the faint hint of a head. Aroma of sweet malt; caramel and fruit. Didn’t pick up on any hops. Flavor was a bit strange for the style; the flavors weren’t entirely different, its just something that I couldn’t put a finger on. Good amount of sweetness; all in all, it was pretty solid, if a bit weird.

Draft - And certainly worth checking out. Sparkling deep amber, thin creamy white head. Intense and rich nose of musty caramel, florals, candied orange peel, and pine. Flavor is similar with a pine burst that slowly fades into more rich caramel coated orange notes. Full bodied, soft carbonation, dry, bittersweet finish. This one totally made my brief visit here worth it...

Growler thanks to Swalden28. The smell is fruits, some alcohol, toffee, apples, malts, and candy. The look is clear, white head, and orange copper in color. The taste is sweet, sticky, hard candym and hops.
