Commercial Description:
A well-balanced, highly hopped American Ale, similar to those known througout the American Northwest. An excellent example of a big-flavored, hand-crafted beer with the sharp, clean, bitter finish of Cascade hops.

Poured to an orange-amber with medium thick off-white head that lingered well and left okay lacing. Aroma was not overwhelming, but what was there was a hoppy citrus fruit with an underlying malty dark fruit and toffee. Mouthfeel was full and slightly bittersweet and the taste heightened the senses of the nose. Finish was well rounded, bringing out both the bitterness of the hops along with a touch of sweetness from the malt.

Copper in color, with a cereal malt and piney citrus nose. Hoppy bitter flavor. Hard to detect exactly what flavors are present. Overall, it’s OK.

Clear amber pour. Looks strangely similar to the IPA. No aroma to speak of. Taste is hoppy on the initial with a bitter finish. Too similar to the IPA.

Draft at Brewpub 8/28/08-Poured a hazy light amber with a small white head. Had an aroma of hops and citrus. The flavor was the same with a bitter bite on the back end. This medium bodied brew was not bad but just a bit bland.

Draft: orange amber with a thin white head, aroma of hops, taste is a bit hoppy with a malty backbone, bitter finish. The best of their beers that I tried.

12-ounce bottle. Amber pour with medium white head. Aroma of yeast, hops, malt. Flavor was similar but with a bread flavor. The look and feel is of a very standard American pale ale but the flavor is more yeasty and citrusy.

A very nice pale ale, one of my favorites actually. If you’re ever down in san antonio on the first friday of the month check out the Blue Star Brewery, its a huge event.
