motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic Feb 13, 2005 on tap at the brewery in newcastle. they described this as an amber ale and it sure was amber. sweet, wood and varnish aroma, quite nutty and toffeeish but with some weirdness that i assumed was due to staleness. light floral hops, not a whole lot happpening Aarleks (402), Sydney, Australia Dec 12, 2004 Tap at the Blue Tongue Brewery, Hunter Valley, NSW: This is their seasonal for spring. Nice looking clear amber with an off-white head. Subdued toffee and caramel notes greet the olfactory organs. Not much hop aroma apart from a strange seaweedy smell. This was carried through in the flavour with a strange saltiness in the toffee-like malts, added to this were some very subtle hop flavours, though nothing distinct. Nice fine carbonation. Not bad, thin but strangley a little cloying. Nesta13 (188), Australia Nov 6, 2004 Definately my favourite of the Blue Tongue range. Nice coppery body with a decent, lasting, creamy white head. Slight sweet caramel notes and nice bitterness. A little thin in the mouthfeel though. Not a complex beer. A decent session ale, which isn’t easy to come by in these parts.
