Commercial Description:
Altbier, literally translated as “Old Style” beer, is a classic German ale. BBC Altbier is brewed with additions of Munich, wheat, caramel, and chocolate malts creating a delicate, but flavorful malt profile. This delicious amber colored session beer is balanced with additions of tradtional spicy German hops creating a light and floral bouquet to compliment its complex malt profile.

Bottle -Bottled date Sep 08 (BBC Amber Ale). Poured copper with a fizzy off-white head that settles quickly. Aromas of toasted malts and hints of citrus. The flavor has some grain/grass and toasted malts. Light to medium body and a light grain aftertaste.

Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Refreshing at first but quickly loses its luster. Light body. Dry and slightly malty. A beer that might appeal to a novice beer drinker. Not my favorite.

Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Dark amber-red with an off white head. Aroma is toasty, caramel, hay. Taste is mostly toasted malt, lighty fruity, a grass dry finish.

Aroma is wheaty with some yeasty citrus notes. Appearance is golden red with some yeast settling in the bottom of the cup, head is not substantial. Flavor has some orange and maybe some almond? Hard to say, but neither can be found in any definite quantity. Palate was slightly lively. An old fallback beer, but nothing too noteworthy. Very sessionable.

The BBC Amber Ale pours amber (a cloying statement, I know, but still true) into the glass, with a crystalline white head that diminishes to nothing, leaving tiny sparse lace (just enough to comment on). The nose is of equal caramel malt and yeasty dough, with some nice lightly residual sours. The flavors contain some initial malt upfront, with sourdough and heavy yeast notes introduced mid-palate. The finish maximizes on a zesty mouthfeel crossed with a lingering doughy sour. Not extremely complex, but it goes down well for a substantive amber ale.

Bottled April 2009. Clear light copper/amber color with a descent but quickly fading white head that leaves descent lace. Flavor is primarily dominated by nuttiness. The flavor is the same. A bit watery and certainly one dimensional, but inoffensive and drinkable. Medium to light bodied with meidum carbonation.

Draft sample at Keg Liquor Fest of Ale. Poured clear brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt and tart citrus aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Clear amber, no head (maybe too cold) mild aroma of slightly sweet lightly roasted malt. average mouthfeel. Crisp bite of faint citrus. Hops shpw their face quickly - a little herbal, then a long finish of lightly roasted malt with a little amber. Not too complex, but good for a session.
