Commercial Description:
Altbier, literally translated as “Old Style” beer, is a classic German ale. BBC Altbier is brewed with additions of Munich, wheat, caramel, and chocolate malts creating a delicate, but flavorful malt profile. This delicious amber colored session beer is balanced with additions of tradtional spicy German hops creating a light and floral bouquet to compliment its complex malt profile.

Meh. Pours an amber color with a thin white head. Aroma and flavor of grainy malt with a light sour note and some smokey characteristics. Decent, but nothing special.

Pours a deep amber with a one finger head from a 12 oz. bottle. Aroma is malty and grainy. Taste grainy and roasted as well. Worth trying but not the best from BBC.

On tap in Louisville airport. Aroma was pretty weak. Some malt and hints of hops. Flavor had something I couldn’t put my finger on, but it was not good. Not a fan of this. Amber pour, not much head.

My thanks to Kevin for this beer. This is good. Aroma has nuts, caramel, and toast. Light amber color, though the roasted character in the flavor makes this more of an alt than a amber ale. Very light hops, and lots of roasted, dry grain. Dry finish.

Bottle. Tawny iced tea body with a patchy film of bubbles and a medium ring of bubbles. Nose-malty like a brown ale. Taste-light cigarette smoke, light chocolate powder, light toffee, very light fruit esters, overall powdery tasting, but in a good way. Great combo of roast, powdered chocolate, and esters. Leaves a beautiful lingering aftertaste.

Bottle. Strong malt aroma with maple syrup notes. Lightly hazy amber color with moderate head. Sweet, metallic malt flavor. Mild hops and strong metallic aftertaste. Tastes okay but metallic taste not pleasant.

I couldn’t believe this was supposed to be an altbier when i had it at the Louisville airport on tap. No mouthfeel to speak of, high level of carbonation and not a whole lot of flavor. Barely passable.
