Commercial Description:
Altbier, literally translated as “Old Style” beer, is a classic German ale. BBC Altbier is brewed with additions of Munich, wheat, caramel, and chocolate malts creating a delicate, but flavorful malt profile. This delicious amber colored session beer is balanced with additions of tradtional spicy German hops creating a light and floral bouquet to compliment its complex malt profile.

Draft: Not too bad for an ALT. Felt like it was smooth and creamy. Definatly one to try.

Pours with a one-fingered off-white head that fades quickly and leaves traces of lace. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Cloudy amber color. Nose is slightly hoppy. Starts hoppy, finishes with strong hoppiness, what else with an amber. Not my style. $1.25 for a 12oz bottle from Liquor Barn Lexington, KY.

Cloudy dark orange with a thin lasting head. Cramy malt in the nose with little hops. Flavor a bit nutty, with detectible hops and a little malt. Also some butterscotch. Overall a pleasant flavour, though a bit astringent. Medium body. Not a bad drink.

Bottle: Light copper body w/ a thin white lacing on the edges; no head when poured. Clean toasty malt aroma, hints of caramel, roast, & earthy hop. Well balanced, w/ a bit of an herbal hop flavor in the finish & aftertaste; Very low, clean bland malt flavor (toasty). also a little roast in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation, dry m/f, fuller light body. Average at best, nothing special.

Clear copper, with no head. Nice spicy, savory flavor up front. Smooth, firm malt flavors, as well. There is an unfortunate stale, "wet cardboard" caracteristic toawards the finish that threatend to ruin the whole thing, though. Sampled at 2004 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam.

Bottle pours caramel, large foamy off-white head, very sticky lacing, with mild carbonation.   Toasted malts, slight grains, and a bit of biscuit on the nose.   Strong bitter grains on first sip, followed by a mild hop bitterness that I could best describe as a water logged ashtray.   Body is lacking, seems rather empty.   Mouthfeel is rather light too.   Finishes with a biting graininess that I dont care for.   This one isn't malty enough, and too BMC like for my tastes.

On tap, Cincy airport. Amber in color, off white head. Aroma was earthy and little nutty, malty. Malty flavor, somewhat light, not clearly defined. Light to medium body, too much carbonation, prickly. Decent.

Sampled this beer at the Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison WI. This one was not one of my fav’s, but not too bad.
