| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2004 (draft) That nice copper color was a welcome sight to an old altbier drinker. This beer has a pretty good balance - maybe a little on the bitter side. I also think it’s changed a little for the worse since the brewery split apart several months ago. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 13, 2004 Copper with a thin, bubbly grayish head. Nose is, well, altbier-ish, bit nutty and malty. Cleanly malty, hops at the end have a nice bite for balance, slight peaty character gives it a bit of depth with the caramel. Also has a very slight lemon tone to it. Finishes dry and hoppy. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 12, 2004 (draft) Lightly hazed amber with beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, cookie dough, light orange. Taste is medium sweet, herbal/floral, caramel. Light-medium body. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2004 Appealing appearance, lovely bright crimson color, adequately sized, brief off-white head of foam.
Aroma, soft, mild, yet sweet and fruity, hoppy and lively.
Taste: yum, is what I first exclaim, and I sing it again with every sip! Light fruity taste, bits of apricots, peach, etcetera, ultimately drying out in the finish.
Body’s about medium, finish is fruity, yet dry and lingers on, but beyond all that it’s just delcious, regardless of adhering to this style or that!
i can drink a million of these, just like any you-name-it pale ale!
Yum, i just caught myself saying again, yum, and damn it, I’m just gonna continue to sat that, no matter what. Don’t know if this qualifies as an altbier, but damnit, it’s a good beer, and that’s all I care for, pallies.
Light/medium bodied, medium, fruity finish, excellent taste, supreme drinkability, sam-ooo--ooo-ooth’ah!

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2004 Draft - nice malty aroma. Deep copper colored with an off-white head. Much malt in the flavor as well. A touch of bitterness in the finish. Had not had this one in 6 or 8 years and it is better than I remembered it. It looks like new brewer Jerry Gnagy is getting things turned back around! humulus (338), Salem, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 11, 2004 When ice cold, this beer tastes identical to iced tea. Bitter and dry palate, but not offensively. Light caramel flavor with inpercievable yeast. Tasty-ish and a bit sub-par for the style, but drinkable none the less. Silphium (2137), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2004 Pours with a clear copper body, lighter than any other altbier I’ve tried. Aroma is crackery and grassy. Flavor is dense but not very distinctive, with earthy/grassy hops mingling with caramely malt. Rather sweet, tangy malt finish. Not as much emphasis on toasty or burnt brown sugar flavors as the other altbiers I’ve sampled. Not subtle either.
