Crafty07 (333), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Apr 12, 2007 I dont’ understand this low rating. This is a well made amber crafted in the old style with a round smooth taste
Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 12, 2008 On tap at BBC in the Cincy airport. Poured a nice shade of lighter amber with a well-retained eggshell head. The aroma was sweet with toasted barley and caramel malts leading the way.. the faintest hint of smoked peat laced through there was very enjoyable. The flavor had toasty caramel at the core with dry, scratchy, earthy bitterness surrounding (a hint of floral too).. finished kind of sharp as it lost its balance. Light-medium bodied with very active carbonation on the palate and a spicier finish.. OK feel. BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Jul 31, 2008 Light mohagany coloring with a light frothy head. Solid structure in the nose a light bit of spice and toffee. A little grainy in the malt texture with a flavor of cooked grains in the finish. Leaves some great lacing behind. there’s something about the aftertaste I just don’t enjoy. DocLock (4083), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle from Squire’s. Dark straw pour with nose of grainy pale malt, hopcitrus. Tastes of wheaties, hopcitrus, some lemongrassy herbal notes. A bit watery but not bad. pinkzambia (868), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 30, 2008 Tap at brewpub: Clear brown with a white head. Malty aroma with a good crisp flavor and finish. A good all around altbier. The_Beer_God (2827), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jun 25, 2008 Bottle. Copper pour with a strong white head. Aroma is slightly nutty and spicy with caramel, toasty malts, and light flowery hops. Taste is spicy and floral hops, toasted malts, soft caramel, some earthiness and grass. Body is medium but strongly carbonated. Prickly dense bubbles lead to a lot of belching. The finish is more toasted malts, caramel, light grass, floral and spicy hops and a touch of iced tea.
