Commercial Description:
An American standard, BBC APA is a full bodied and heavily hopped American Ale. It is copper in color and brewed with a blend of pale and crystal malts, balancing the citrus and pine flavors from large doses of American and English hops to create a very drinkable, hoppy ale. BBC APA is a hophead’s dream!

Very hoppy aroma!! Very inviting...dark amber/brown body with a small head. Mostly bitter taste. I sense the watered down taste here...I think it because there is a lack of a strong nose flavor, so you get a strong carbonated water feel on the nose. The hop on this beer is above average, and the watey taste is a statement in itself.

Orange poor with white head- fairly bubbly. The beer has a hoppy aroma and flavor, and that’s about it. Finishes moderately bitter and briefly lingers . A bit watery, but I don’t mind. Overall, a decent pale ale.

Smells great, super hoppy. Head gets nice and murky on top but big bubbles below detract. Taste is duller than the whif suggested, overpowering malts seem unbalanced. Not bad but kind of unrefreshing. Beer of the Month.

Nice copper hue with a weak off-white head. The aroma is toffee and caramel with citrus and herb hop scents. Caramel malts dominate the flavor but a healthy dose of orange and lemon zest are present as well. Finishes on a satisfyingly bitter note. A tad strong for a session ale, but I’d risk it.

12oz. bottle best by 2/06. Hazy dark amber color with a small off white head. Sweet fruity aroma of oranges, citrus hops and biscuity malts. Flavor of biscuit malts, citrus fruits(orange, grapefruit) with a nice hop bitterness on the finish.

Draught at brewpub. Pours cloudy, murky light brown sugar to hay in color, with a small foamy white head. Very fragrant floral citrus hop aroma, slight caramel malt nose. Heavily bitter and acidic hoppy citrus rind flavor with a caramel malt body. Medium bodied and slightly dry palate.

On tap at the brewpub. Outstanding hop aroma. Cloudy light orange in color. Very close in appearance to their Belgian IPA. This has two bitterness flavors: good cop and bad cop. Good cop comes first and is pleasant. Bad cop bitterness is harsh and lingers oh too long. The residual burps from drinking this beer have an aroma of molded fiberglass. UPDATE 1/21/06: Thanks to pman for sending this bottle to me via the January 2006 Beer-o-the-Month Club. I think it may be a little smoother in the bottle than on tap. I don’t get the delicious fruitiness in aroma or first bolus of taste as I did on tap, but the harsh lingering bitter bite is not as unpleasant.
