| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This quaffable American Pale Ale develops a perfumy, spicy and citrusy hop intensity balanced out by lightly biscuity, caramelized cereals for a very approachable example of the style.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the veiled amber.
-The finishing hop bitterness is spicy and quite leafy.
-The mouthfeel is lean and rather bubbly.
-The flavor profile is balanced, but not necessarily memorable.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 19, 2009 This beer pours a amber color with a minimal head. It has a citrus aroma. The flavor was mixed with both hops and malt. It did not the hop kick I look for in pale ales. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Bottle from acknud. Aroma of floral and citrus hops. Some bready malt as well as some caramel. Pours a golden orange with a thin head. Initial caramel and bready malt flavors are followed by a really nice crisp hoppy presence. Citrus and floral hops quench the palate. This one would be a very nice hot weather session beer. k4df4l (154), DTown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Lots malt, very bready w/ plenty of caramel, citrus and pine aroma. Flavor matches the aroma with a generous malt presence running counter to the piney & citrusy hop flavors. Body is a bit on the thin side but otherwise a nice refreshing APA brew. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 2, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased at Woody’s in Cool Springs. Poured a clear amber color with a one finger white head. The aroma was pine and a bit of citrus, with a weird malt note as well. The flavor was a bit malty, with a more earthy/grassy finish than pine. This was a conflicting beer. Overall it wasn’t too bad, but it seemed very disjointed. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 31, 2009 12 oz bottle from trade with Aknud. No head at all, and just a spiderweb of lace. Cloudy and amber. It’s got a bit of either Belgian yeast on the nose, or it smells a bit skunky. It’s just more of a light citrus scent. Taste is bitter as a first impression. Light in the mouth. Rather empty. Taste of hopps, but it’s more like a weak IPA. Flat in the mouth. Drinkable, but I wouldn’t put it on my shopping list. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2009 holy crap. i pulled this from the fridge just now because i thought i’d already had it and it was somewhat low ABV. the label says "american pale ale" all over it. it doesn’t say anything remotely suggesting IPA, let alone DIPA, let alone 10% abv (it’s 1:20am and i want to sleep)... maybe i’ve found the wrong beer, but it says bluegrass BBC american pale ale... wtf... oh well, how... unfortunate ;-).
standard orange brown color with quite a bit of yeast yielding 50% opacity. about 1/3" thick head. smells of old hops. pretty grassy, really. not much pine. tastes..... zero malt, but not painfully dry. instead just pure bitter. a different bitter than i’m use to though. it’s really flat and watery, and then bitter is the only other flavor in there. pretty soapy. it’s pretty much hop water, as far as i can tell. with no malt balance, i’d think 10% would be much more noticeable, so i kind of don’t think this is the right beer... after looking at the beer listing again, i realized BBC refers to the brewer and not the beer (previously i was rating this all under the BBC ultra, the DIPA). well, that changes everything, except my desire to change my rating above. still watery, and i’ll adjust numbers to fit what i’m tasting. wateriest thing i’ve ever ever had.
