garrison (427), Cin. city, Ohio, USA May 13, 2008 From a 12 ouncer purchased at "Liquor Direct" in Covington, Kentucky - This one pours a golden brew with a faint piney aroma and a compact white head of foam. Tastewise, it’s a bit hops forward with a lack of body, and a bit overdone in the bitterness. However, since I’m an APA fan I’ll rank it up well enough (Moerlien’s OTR is much better, though).
hopdog (4552), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 24, 2008 12oz bottle. I wouldn’t call this one a gusher but more of a foamer that slowly came out of the bottle. Poured a medium golden color with a huge sized head. Aromas of roasted grains, earthy, floral, and toasted caramel. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and lighter floralness. For the huge head and foam, I didn’t expect the nearly flat body. shigadeyo (1369), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2008 8/04/2008: BBC American Pale Ale has a hazy golden orange color with a fluffu ivory-colored head. The aroma has a good pine and citrus hoppiness with some underlying sweet toffee maltiness. The sweetness and maltiness is a bit lacking in the flavor, but a really vibrant and fresh pine hoppiness fills the gap up well. The bitterness level is higher than expected and possibly approaches the IPA range, but that’s okay. I’d rather it be a bit more hoppy and bitter than fall too far short! There is plenty of delicate lacing on the glass marking each sip. Due to the low malt level the body of this beer is medium light, but that’s okay too as it actually lends to the smooth, crisp drinkability of this refreshing pale ale. Nicely done BBC!
12 fl. oz. bottle (Best Before: Dec 08) from tish. Thanks! Rating #173 for this beer...
johntreeter (90), Greenwood, Indiana, USA Aug 1, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a thin off white head that leaves light lacing. Citrus, floral, and grass hops dominate the nose. They smack you in the mouth as well, and there is some caramel malt flavor to balance. Med to full body, good carb, dry feel, and a little watery on the trexture. Damn fine APA, a hop heads delight. BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Jul 31, 2008 Sweet hoppy nose with a copper amber pour and a small white creamy head. Sweet maltiness counter balanced by some citrus hop giving some well dserved bitterness. Overall nicely balanced. I could drink a few of these. DocLock (4085), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle from Squire’s. Pours turbid orangy coppery with nose of bready pale malt, hopcitrus, grapefruit, and tangerine. Tastes bready malty, hoppy, with notes of citrus, slight florals, funk, and tropical fruit. Needs a tad more malt to become elite, but I’d drink this again with no qualms.
