| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear dark brown with slight hints of garnet around the edges. Solid head, tan in color, with scattered, spotty lacing which soon dwindled away to a thin ring of bubbles around the glass.
Smell: Delicate aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts.
Taste: Light flavors of cocoa powder, sweet dark malts, coffee, and a few smokey notes, and coupled with a light hop and grain bitterness. Other than that, this beer finishes dry and with a decidedly metallic finish. Unfortunately, this porter is a bit watery; the flavors seem muted. I even left the beer sitting in my mouth for a few minutes, waiting for flavors to magically emerge. Regrettably, this doesn’t work.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin and fairly carbonated.
Drinkability: A nice, simple, eminently tolerable porter. What more could you ask for? bubbleflubber (900), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Pours a deep prune into the glass with a minimal head and trace lacing. The nose immediately jumps up with dark coffee roasts and dark fruit esters. This is a bit dry and tannin-like, with the mid-back and side palates weighing the most hues of bitter chocolate, acrid roasts/grains and Golding hops. Unfortunately, the mouthfeel just isn’t there for a classic porter. I don’t get creamy from this at all; rather, I get a watery sensation that just ruins the overall impression. Sorry. Disappointing.... ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA

Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights. The average to small frothy tan head is mostly diminishing with very thin lace. The front is roasted malt, with moderate to high acidity in the middle. The finish is burnt & bitter. The light body is creamy, lively, and dry. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2007 12oz - Aroma is roasted dark malts, truck stop coffee and some chocolate. Pours dark brown with a big fluffy brown head and great lacing. Flavor is dark chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of coffee. Problem is when it warms. Then it develops a sour milk after taste that takes away fromt he overall experience. Palate is dry and creamy. Decent when cold.
