Commercial Description:
A rich and robust blend of light, caramel, and dark malts sets the stage for BBC Dark Star Porter’s robust presence on the palate. This smooth but robust porter has complex notes of chocolate and roasted grains balanced by additions of traditional English hops, creating a delicious chocolaty and smooth ale.

Poures a deep brown with a slight off white head. Aroma is heavy on the yeast, and grass. Some coffee and chocolate as well. I’m not a fan of the aroma at all, it doesn’t smell like a porter should smell. Mouth is way too watery. the flavor isn’t bad, much better than the aroma at least. Roasted malts, some coffee and chocolate. Very little aftertaste. After getting past the aroma this isn’t that bad of a brew, it’s decent but I won’t be having another.

Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of yeast, chocolate, and some roasted malts. Too much yeast in my opinion for a porter. Flavor is better then the aroma suggests with more of the roasted malt flavor. Finishes with watery with not much flavor on the aftertaste. Not a good porter.

Appearance wise, this is a good example of a dark porter. However, it lacks the boldness of a decent English porter, and it relies too heavily on bitterness rather than roasted malt IMO.

Pours dark brown with a crimson hue and tan head. The aroms is sour lemony and lots of veggie. There is some roasted malt as well. Medium / light body with lots of moderate carbonation - too light of a body for a porter in my opinion. Taste has the veggie with some spice and roasted malt. The finish has more spice and a touch of chocolate. Veggie is far too prevalent - I won’t get another of these.

Tap, Louisville, BBC pub. Jet black, head quickly goes with some froth remaining around the side. Thick malty aroma, decent mouth feel, could be less carbonated for the style. Nice finish, decent beer, nothing out of hte ordinary.

this is a wonderfully regular beer that has nothing unique about it. Brigadier had a few nice things to say about the aroma that i do agree with. but the problem is that the flavour really doesn’t stand out. there’s a little coffee with a lot of thickness to it, but i’d have to say the pour had me excited. the spicy hoppiness didn’t quite kick in until halfway through the brew. i wasn’t impressed, but at the right price, i would give it another chance.

bottle. Aroma: A decent toasted malt aroma with some nutiness. Light vanilla and some subtle cocoa, as well. Appearance: Poured dark brown with small reddish highlights. Head was light beige, medium in size and had good retention. Not much lacing. Flavor: Good coffee flavor with some light chocolate. A touch of anise and a hint of tobacco smoke. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: A decent porter, but nothing to write home to mom about.
