Aroma is a bit lacking with only subtle dark chocolate. Flavor is as expected chocolatey, roasty malt. Didn’t detect any hops. Slightly sweet. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jul 1, 2006 Pours deep red with a large, tan head. Light roasted malts in the aroma, but a strange chocolatey cardboard smell dominates (it’s coffee, but coffee that’s seen better days). The flavor is light coffee and chocolate, with an unpleasant sort of nuttiness. Not one I’ll come back to. Or, should I say, not one to which I’ll come back. Kinz (2215), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Very dark brown, light does get through, but barely. Small head fades rapidly. Nose is faint, has a bit of roasty notes and chocolate. Flavor is an uninspired mix of milk chocolate, mild coffee, and roast malt. A touch thin on the finish. An ultra thin hint of vegetal hops lingers in the mouth. Not bad, but not worth getting excited over either. Probably a bit better than this score indicates, but just not doing much for me. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown to near black body with a small tan head. Nose is roasted malts, light coffee, and dark chocolate. Pretty typical aroma and about what I’d expected. Taste is a bit richer than the aroma. Lots of roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa, sweetened coffee and a hint of hop bitterness. Body is medium with a light carbonation feel. Finishes much the same way as it began. More roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Standard porter for most breweries. Nothing exceptional here, but it is well made. T2Tool (352), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Had never heard of this beer before, but while in Lexington, KY saw it on the shelf and thought I would give it a try. Nice flavor and very affordable. If I ever see it again, would make another purchase. TheOrange (417), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 27, 2006 Nice black body with small foamy, disapating, caramel colored head. nice Roatsted malty aroma. I bit thinner then I think a porter should be. Highly carbonated, not a plus in my book. the finish is sloppy, it is not crisp, it is not a nice malty flavor, it lingers and there it is. There are better porters. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 21, 2006 Cola-like brown pour, frothy light-brown head.
Dry roasty malt and lactic acid aroma.
Initial taste is a roasty dry malt, eating snow, coffee hints, grassy sour-like hops; especially in finish.
Kind of thin, but a decent entry-level porter.
