Commercial Description:
A rich and robust blend of light, caramel, and dark malts sets the stage for BBC Dark Star Porter’s robust presence on the palate. This smooth but robust porter has complex notes of chocolate and roasted grains balanced by additions of traditional English hops, creating a delicious chocolaty and smooth ale.

Light chocolate and roasted aromas are present. The color is black with a moderate tan head. Head duration is short. The flavor has a slight roastedness and chocolate bitterness that finishes somewhat weak, with the bitterness quickly fading into a slight watery feel on the palate.

Poured out to a nice, black color with a decent aroma of chocolate and malt. Taste is well balanced with plenty of rosted malt backed up by just the right hop presence. A very, easy to drink porter.

bottle - This beer pours black with a thin, fading head. It has a nice but quite light roast malt aroma. The flavor is of roast malt with very tastey coffee notes. I was rather impressed by the balanced flavor and moderate mouthfeel with a good hops finish. The brew is a quality porter.

Best by July, ’06. Black. Modest, frothy, tan head settles completely. Aroma of chocolate, a bit of coffee, and a touch of macro character. Same flavors with a bitter finish. Smooth, medium body. Not a bad porter, better than expected. Quite drinkable.

On tap at the Cincinnati airport taproom, 4/2/06: Nice black beer with an impressive head. Smoke and coffee was my first impression. The smokiness sticks around in a nicely bittered brew. Tad on the thin side, but otherwise quite excellent.

Thanks to Degarth. Maple syrup color. Small off white head. Aroma is light cocoa, some cut grass. Drinking it the coffee malt really comes through. A hint of chocolate, fizzy almost like pop on the palate. Ok.

12 oz. Botttle. Pours a clear brown/black with red highlights, a firm tan head, and sticky lacing. Some chocolate and bread in the nose. Nice chocolate malt flavors with a balancing hop bite. A little thin in body, but very drinkable and clean. Nice beer.

Nice, very sweet and malty. Then with a crisp hoppy finish. Nice transition. Chocolate and coffee everywhere. Dark brown pour. Sits well and is pleasant going down.
