| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2006 Dark ruby/brown, medium tan head. Primarily roasted malt in the aroma, but there is a little caramel or brown sugar or something sweet there as well. Medium body, light carbonation. Roasted, nearly burned, malt flavor that has an earthy character. Finishes dry and bitter. RAYBOY01 (1867), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2006 Black pour with very little head. Rich roasted maltiness with strong chocolate/smoke/prune notes. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but not exsessively so. Very easy-drinking. I detected an odd plastic flavor, very transitory and subtle, but distracting. But generally quite a good beer. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

A large creamy head of light brown that sticks around over a dark brown brew with red at the edges.
Yeasty, bready, roast malt aroma.
Thin and a bit bitter for my liking. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 7, 2006 Draught at brewpub. Pours dark amber brown with quick dissipating cream-colored head. The aroma is butterscotch and biscuit with some faint sweetness. Hops and assertive carbonation are in the front of the flavor and work toward bitter chocolate, raw grains, and an earthy finish. It’s just a tad harsh and acidic, but decent. NachlamSie (1649), Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 6, 2006 draught. Dark star is a deep mahogany with the head fading away fast. The aroma is mild and quite sweet for a porter, a bit bready. Mouthfeel is light for the style, some ashy weak cofee notes come through and this finish thick of biscuits. All the while, a bit of pear-like sweetness is evident. Drinkable? yes. Not a great repsentation of a porter, however. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Black cola looking pour with only a small bubbly head. The aroma is roasty coffee. Almost a little burnt. The body is probably right for the style but its a little light for my tastes. Overall its pretty easy to gulp down. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2006 Bottle courtesy of Kevin. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma of dark roasted malt with a trace of vanilla. Initial flavor of chocolate malts, nuts, and vanilla. I am not wild about the finish, which has too much burnt malt and bitterness going on. You do get a kick of bakers chocolate before it goes down the throat. A respectable, but unmemorable porter. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2006 bottle. Dark brown body with hints of amber when held to the light. A thick gray brown head. Slightly watery roast aroma of nuts. A nice brew with a good balance. Having problems really putting it to words. But I like it. Nice roast flavor with a nice bitter in the background. A bit metallic in the finish but not so much so to be off putting. A bit of light caramel and something approaching peanut butter, but more like peanut butter fudge really.
