Commercial Description:
A rich and robust blend of light, caramel, and dark malts sets the stage for BBC Dark Star Porter’s robust presence on the palate. This smooth but robust porter has complex notes of chocolate and roasted grains balanced by additions of traditional English hops, creating a delicious chocolaty and smooth ale.

Aroma is great. Roast nuts and malt. Flavors are very strong. Dominated by a tobacco flavor. I am very impressed with BBC but I just do not like that tobacco note. Rated Sierra Nevda’s porter low for this, although its sort of unfair. To maintain some objectivity this is drinkable and full flavored and not a bad beer to try.

Bottle pours dark brown with medium tan head. Flavors of semisweet chocolate and a hint of coffee. My first porter, and I was impressed with it.

This bottled brew marked bbf 4/2004 poured a medium sized head of frothy and foamy fine to large sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained unnoted carbonation, was semi-transparent and dark ruby red brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of coffee roasted malts . Its mouth feel is initially slightly tingly thin brown malt with a lingering palate and a stronger brown malt aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild coffee dark beer brown malts roasted notes. An above average brew.

draft at the cincinatti airport. Typically looking porter. Malty aroma, roasted malt, some chocolate. Smooth, thin, roasty to start. Some dark chocolate in the middle, finishing with a hint of bitterness. Decent offering.

On tap. Tasty stuff. A little bit thin but otherwise a good porter, nice example of the style.
