It was somewhat thin but it was still very full in flavor. It tasted very fresh, the alcohol was hidden well and it looked great. It didn’t blow me out of the water, but it was very solid and much more flavorful than many other porters that often taste kind of watery to me. I shared a sixer with my friend and his only comment was "this stuff is delicious." I wasn’t taking notes while drinking the Dark Stars, so I am winging the rating. But, I think it is a very full porter (would take this over Fullers London porter any day of the week). dmtroyer (415), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2008 12oz. Pours pretty dark brown with red edges. Mostly roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Roasted and chocolate follow in the body with the slightest notion of hops on the finish. A bit sweet for a porter, could be a decent introduction to the style. gunsho (134), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 1, 2008 Damn my weakness for porters! Pours a stout like dark brown to black with a tan head. Dry stronger chocolate dryness. Little creamy. Some coffee. Something a little rancid? bit dru. Light fizzy creamy big bubbles and thin. Very roasty. Cola like acidity. Dry chocolate roast. Small fruit. thin watery flavor with canned corn DMS finish. Yea, I could live without this one! JCB (1792), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 25, 2008 12oz from Carytown Wine and Beer, Richmond. Noticeable chocolate aroma, deep brown body. The brew starts out smooth and creamy, with a modest cocoa flavor that complements the nose. Dark fruits emerge as it warms, rounded it by a slightly roasty finish. Doesn’t really come together somehow, and is too thin for me. But it’s solid. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2008 This is a decent porter but nothing really special. Very drinkable though.
Doesn’t pour near as dark as most other porters. Very dark brown but not black.
Smells fairly roasty and dark. Some chocolate and coffee.
A little thin in the taste and mouthfeel department. It is nice and dark tasting but doesn’t have the complexity I was hoping for.
Decent porter. I like their Bearded Pat’s barleywine better. shrubber85 (2995), Wallhalben, Germany
