Really nice aroma of mocha, roast, herbal brit hops and malted milk balls. Flavor starts off with mocha, roasted malt, then caramel and an earthy hop character. Ends with a pleasant, firm chocolate flavor with a slight hint of burnt toast in the background. Proper quaffable, medium body (but not necessarily thin) with moderate carbonation. Overall, a very well-made porter - I’m surprised by the mediocre ratings. cheezydemon (1), Kentucky, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 14, 2007 I like this beer a lot. It has a good full flavor and a good balance of malt and hops. jgb9348 (2500), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Super dark brown coloured body, mostly opaque with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of deep chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a potent bit of nuts. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour up front with coffee and dark chocolate following soon behind. Aftertaste shows some mild malt and coffee, with a bit of sugars near the end. Overall, a good porter - not superb...but better than most. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 12-November-2007. JamesD (198), Centreville, Virginia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 6, 2007 This is an okay porter. The aroma is very full and rich with notes of sweetness, malt, and chocolate. The flavor has all those qualities, but they are marginal and not nearly as strong as you’d think or like. portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA

Pours a deep black with a thin white head that diminishes quickly. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee with a hint of chocolate. Flavors of chocolate with a sweet almost toffee finish. Has a thin, crisp mouthfeel for being a porter. A marginal porter. Acknud (781), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Decent porter. Dark pour with frothy white head. Aroma of roasted malt with some coffee notes. Minimal bitterness at finish but nice rich chocolate/roasted malt flavor over all. MoDog (923), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Poured from a 12oz bottle, and served in an English pint glass. This porter poured a deep and dark brown with a thin, dark tan head that quickly faded into a few lingering bubbles. Some very light and uneven lace was left behind. The aroma of this beer was made up of chocolate, light pine, and also some freshly roasted coffee notes. The flavor consisted of light roasted notes of chocolate and coffee, with some very faint hops. The flavor just seemed a bit thin and uninteresting when compared to the inviting aroma. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with very minimal carbonation. This was a decent brew, but maybe a stronger malt presence could boost up the flavor a bit. puggy211 (589), cordova, Tennessee, USA
