Commercial Description:
A rich and robust blend of light, caramel, and dark malts sets the stage for BBC Dark Star Porter’s robust presence on the palate. This smooth but robust porter has complex notes of chocolate and roasted grains balanced by additions of traditional English hops, creating a delicious chocolaty and smooth ale.

Dark ruby body with big beige head. Chocolate and coffee aroma, sweet and rich. Flavor a bit muted relative to aroma -- chocolate, coffee, roasted and relatively sweet. Slightly bitter finish. Watery medium body.

Bottle... Almost pitch black ale with red highlights and a small, frothy, beige head. Good retention. Toasty, milk chocolaty, nutty nose. Chocolaty flavor. Good balance. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Lengthy, chocolaty, lightly bitter finish.

On tap at Cincinnati/Northern Ky airport: Pours a nice robust darkness with a thick light tan head. aroma is mild and roasty. Body has a nice caramel sweetness and smooth lightly chocolatey finish. Served too cold, but was quite nice once it warmed. A decent porter.

Bottle. Has a bit of a plastic smell to it, a little bit of the same in the flavor, but still has a big amount of mocha and smoked malt everywhere. Has a dark black appearance (rated in low light conditions) with a nice looking tan head. Good stuff overall, but it takes a few drinks to get beyond the plastic smoke flavor that consumes this beer. After that it mellows out a bit on the tongue.
