novedyarg (56), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 21, 2005 Pours a nut brown color with a thin head. Aroma of roasted malts and wheat but the flavor is exactly the opposite of that. Very hoppy at first and then fads very very little to become a milder wheaty hoppiness. Tasted more like an IPA at first to me but then the aftertaste was like a wheat. Good beer overall, liked the changes in flavors. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Jun 6, 2005 On tap at the BBC. Black with thin white head. I was really hoping this would be a dunkelweizen, my favorite style. But the total lack of yeast flavors indicated otherwise. Roasted malt and sweet aromas. Well-balanced with coffee and chocolate notes ending with a smooth wheat finish. Tastes more like their Dark Star porter than a wheat beer. That, and their use of an American Wheat yeast, led me to label this beer as such.
