thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2009 This draft brew from a beer bar poured a large sized head of foamy fine to large sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated copper brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was malty and metallic. The crisp mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The good flavor contained notes of nutty and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jul 27, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Pours light brown with some red hues and off white head. The hose has some dusty roasted nutty malts, and an earthy herbal hop note. Nutty flavors but its pretty short lived. Light body and easy to drink. Poured clear brown color an average frothy off-white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate sweet roasted malt and earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate balanced bittersweet flavor and medium pine bittersweet finish of moderate duration. While kicking back and watching Kragthorpe attempt to throw away another game I had a pint of this. Not having had too many milds it is hard to judge if was done well or not. It certainly seems like the type of beer that you could drink all night with no ill effects. The presence of flavor and character immediately gives it a bump over most kolschs.
Aroma / Appearance - The color of a darkly stained mahogany colored body smelled of wood stain, light fruit and gentle hops. It was very easy on the senses as I would expect such a low alcohol beer to be.
Flavor / Palate - The taste of soft velvety chocolate made this very appealing from the first sip. Malts and hops blend smoothly before a pine finish that hides in the throat. Very balanced and sessionable this is a style that I wish was more readily available outside England. More like tea than beer it would go perfectly with almost anything.
