AmEricanbrew (816), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA May 16, 2008 Medium amber with a frothy off white head which sticks around. Spicy apple skin and pit fruit aroma. Nice frothy mouthfeel. Spicy hops flavor here with a caramel malty sweetness. Finish is biting hops and alcohol warmth. An eccentric tasting iipa.
dm9831 (530), Monee, Illinois, USA Jul 13, 2008 copper colored with a big, big tan head with lots of lacing. aroma of floral hops, citrus, bitter hops. flavoe has hints of caramel, light bitterness. not a lot going on in the flavor. at 9% abv, the alcohol is well hidden. dry, slightly bitter finish. an enjoyable, if not great effort. hooray for professor gesser. drfabulous (646), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jul 5, 2008 A nice IPA getting hit heavy here. Not so much an Imperial, but just a decently hopped/citrus tasting IPA. Give ’em some credit. It’s from Kentucky. General_Gao (2357), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Mar 31, 2008 750ml bottle served at cellar temperature. Tasted side by side with its sister beer (Homewrecker Double IPA). Poured a clear medium orange color. Head was fluffy and off white with good retention. Some lace was left behind at the end. Fairly one dimensional aroma dominated by brown sugar. There were also whiffs of molasses and alcohol. The body was much lighter than Homewrecker, but the excessive carbonation was similar. Dry on the tongue with mild hop bitterness that peaked at about 3-4 out of 10. Tasted of toffee, toasted bread, and hay. The 9% alcohol was disguised. Bleh. Dogbrick (2165), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 5, 2008 Bottle from ABC in Ashland, KY. This beer is a mostly clear orange-amber color with a medium and fluffly light beige head that diminishes slowly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Mildly citric hops aroma with notes of grass. Medium-bodied and moderately hoppy at first with an underlying toasted malt character. Notes of sweet caramel and toffee become increasingly assertive throughout. The finish is mostly sweet malt with a lingering mild hops. Overall this IPA is lacking cohesiveness, it could definitely be better.
