goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 7, 2008 Poured a clear very deep brown color with a minimal sized tan head and brown legs. The beer smelled like licorice and bologna. the flavor is fairly sweet and roasty. Notes of bitter dark chocolate and licorice. There were some piny hops in the middle and finish. The beer dries out rather quickly leaving a moderate bitterness. Some warmth with a medium body. The beer seemed gritty. The mouthfeel started out sticky and sweet but ended dry.
mabel (1583), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 13, 2008 [1521-20080711] Bottle. Dark roast wood aroma has a bit of peat and smoky moss. Dark brown black body with a quick light brown foamy head. Roasty dark malt flavour has lots of powdery charcoal-smoked wood. Full body. Long aftertaste of roasted wet wood.

Pours black with an average to large size frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with notes of coffee and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt, hops, some lactic notes and a roasty dry finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, not a world-beater but a good, tasty beer. Underhook (93), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Jul 26, 2008 Pours deep black, very little head. Mouthfeel spectacular and creamy like a good stout should be. Burnt, coffee, chocolate taste. Very good imperial stout but doesn’t quite match up with the top of the heap. Best beer I have had from High Point. GregClow (2318), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 20, 2008 Three bottles shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel & tupalev - courtesy of HogTownHarry & blankboy. Deep brown-black with a small tan head. Aroma of rich, sweet malt with a slightly lactic backnote. Medium bodied. Flavour is similar to the aroma - big malts, a bit of lactose - along with some building herbal elements from the hops. Body is a bit light for the style, but OK. All in all, a good impy, but not a great one. Gotta love the low-budget labels, though!

The aroma is slightly grassy with cocoa and fruit and roasted malt. The body is brown hued black and holds a small tan head. The first sip gives a bit of hot alcohol followed by some green vegetable notes like fresh unroasted coffee beans. Very grainy flavor for an imperial stout. Some mild chocolate and coffee notes. Also get a bit of green tobacco. Odd, not bad, just very different.
