Bottle, 75cl. An amber, almost clear beer with a coarse beige head. Lovely spiced nose with caramel, tea, citrus, some alcohol and a little bit of cellar and dried fruits. Warming in the mouth, maybe a tad much for a beer at 8%, but in a pleasant way. Full-bodied and effervescent, with flavors of sweetness, tea, caramel, roasted malt and a slightly herbal bitterness. Lasting finish with bitterness, herbs, sweetness and alcohol. The beer is maybe a bit edgey, but still lovely. (080829)

Near black beer under a dark cream head. Lots of liquorice, sweets, gums or jap . Sweet liquorice, hard dark malts and again, liquorice gums. Some rubber, too. Well-bodied, extremely slick, alcohol obvious. Not bad, but quite a bit unidimensional. As to "abt/quadrupel"...

75cl Bottle at Vader Abts "’t Brouwhuys" in Baarle Hertog. Dark brown chololate-like beer. Fresh herbal aromas in balance with dark fruits. Sweet-bitter flavours. Overripe raisins, pears and cinnamon. A lot of carbonation, but not to fizzy.
