Sharp slightly smoky aroma surrounds a hoppy core of grassiness that leaves a satisfyingly hoppy finish of combined bitterness and citricity on a smooth texture. A "lots going on" pint!

Clean gold with a thin white head. Creamy malt, faint hoppage and a hint of chlorine in the aroma. Wheat, straw and unbrewed malt flavour. Slight tea note in the finish. Not great by any means. hughie (3055), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

No mention of the brewery; just ’Standard Pioneer’, the ABV, and a picture of some hops, all done by hand. Rather quaint. The beer is gold with a small white head. Ashy chocolate malt aroma and an interesting hoppy taste with just a slight touch of citrus. Late bitterness. A bit odd, but entertaining. cgarvieuk (4178), Edinburgh, Scotland

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 27, 2007 Aroma is plasticy, pale malts come through with sweetness from somewhere. Taste is pale malts, sweet again, bittering hops dont balance to well, a strange yeasty sweetness that doesnt suit this ale.
