I had it on tap at the brewery today and was blown away! Pours a very dark chestnut color with a huge foamy beige head. The aroma is excellent; rich malts, roasted chocolate, light hops. The flavor was great; nutty, bready malts, light chocolate, roasted flavors like a Stout but with all the goodness of a Bock. Excellent. I was amazed how beautiful the pour was and how good this tasted. My original rating was off of a old or bad batch. Very nice. BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA

On Tap – Deep rich aroma with a dark brown color with a thin head. Dark malts where tasted through out the beer with a slight fruity essence. Very robust for a light brewed beer due to Utah Laws. Good drinking beer very dry finish a great beer for the night.

Brown-black brew with 2 finger head, nice faint hop aroma. Finely balanced taste, with slight bitter finish. Nothing harsh, just smooth and slightly dry. Nice beer. Excellent job of working with (around?) Utah’s weird laws (I believe by law this beer is max 4% ABV). detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2007 It pours a deep clear brown black, topped by a couple inches (YES!) of sudsy light brown foam. Excellent head retention, spotty webbed lacing. Bittersweet chocolate, a little pungeant spent grain initially, and then later on - some hop bitterness in the aroma. The grainy smell almost disappeared after the first couple whiffs.
Delicious dry baker’s chocolate maltiness. I prefer my bocks on the dry side, so this one suits me just fine. Light undertones of some coffee and roasted grain flavors. Hops for balance only. Just shy of medium body, moderate carbonation. Fairly smooth. paulmetzger (152), Pocatello, Idaho, USA
