22 ounce bottle form tarheels86. The pour is mostly opaque black with a thick beige head. I kind of like the nose. It reminds me a lot of some chocolate covered coffee beans that I ate not too long ago. Its a goo memory. The flavor is kind of ehh. There’s some roast, and coffee comes back at the end. There’s just some other things here that make this seem like its not all that well put together. Medium body with a balanced finish. Overall, this beer is very average.

Courtesy of the Tampa tasting group. Pours a cola brown with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, light sour funk, caramel, light floral esters. Flavor is sweet and roasted with notes of burnt coffee, chocolate, light caramel. Generally medium body with a light finish.

Thanks to the Tampa Crew for the share. Pours brown with an off-white head. Nose is coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, and some bitterness. Flavor is a bit of cola, some coffee, roasted malts, and some sweetness. Light to medium bodied with enjoyable coffee flavors.

Courtesy of some awesome beer geek at the weekly tasting. It pours deep brown with amber edges and tan head. The aroma is chocolate, roasty malts, burnt malts, molasses, a dash of caramel and some dark roasted coffee. The taste is a bit thin in body with roasty to burnt malts, a bit of caramel, some chocolate and a thin layer of roasted coffee.

Tap @ the brewery. Pours dark brown, beige head. Aroma is light in coffee with some roasted malts. Flavor, medium coffee in the body, roasted malts, sweet with not much bitterness from the coffee. Enjoyed the beer, though I would have preferred to have more coffee. Overall profile seemed a little too thin. Many of Bold City’s beers could really be up there if only the body wasn’t so thin.

On tap @ Bold City. Dark brown color. light tan colored head. Aroma of green coffee beans, nice earthiness. Coffee bitterness is dominate. Followed up by a nice roasted barley flavor. A bit thin bodied. It has good flavor though. 25 July 09

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a wispy, scant, off-white head. Smell: Modestly malty nose with only a mild, transient earthy cocoa-ish character to pair up with the scent of used coffee grinds. Taste: Humble brown malts with a vague taste of lightly sweet cocoa powder. Certainly a stand out coffee flavor, not really in terms or quality or richness of flavor, but because the malts aren’t there to properly support it. Roasty bitterness. Minor hint of tartness on the tail end. Roasty, lightly astringent finish. Quite the odd duck. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Pass. Severely lacking in the malt and body department for a stout, to say nothing of a coffee-infused stout, which leaves me hoping this wasn’t the final goal or intention of the brewery.
