Commercial Description:
A medium bodied Pale Ale brewed with Rye Malt which provides a distinct flavor. A slight hop bitterness finishes this beer off nicely. This is a must try!

Appearance: Pours out a near clear, copper-toned body with a smallish, scant, white head. Smell: Sweetish, lightly grainy pale maltiness with a hint of the spicy rye and mild notes from the leafy, earthy hops. Also, I gotta say, there’s a little whisper of buttery diacetyl to be found in the distant background. Taste: Lightly sweet pale malts with a touch of oven-toasted grain husks. Spicy tones from the rye malt. There’s a very faint, very tucked away butteriness hidden amongst the maltiness, but nothing to get upset and kick a chair over. Mildy earthy, leafy hops with a medium amount of bitterness. Finishes bittersweet with some lingering grainy qualities. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Drinkability: Acceptable. It’s just a simple, honest rye pale ale that I’ve paired pours from the growler with everything from a single (Shape Shifter) from the upcoming Systems Officer album to a Chicken ’n’ Rice ’n’ Veggies soup to a season four episode of House.

On tap at Bold City. It poured deep gold with off white head. The aroma is bright with spice and earthy hops along side malts and a touch of rye. The taste has some graininess, a modest rye twang, a bit of grapefruit and nearing lemon acidity. It ends a bit dry and refreshing.

Tap@ the brewery. pours golden, white head. Aroma, light in rye, some fruits, hints of malts. Flavor, hoppy, malty with the rye hitting at a light thick mouthfeel giving the beer a straightforward grainy aspect. Finish remains a little bitter.

On tap @ Bold City. Bright golden color. Thin white head. Aroma of spicy banana. Some grassy hops. Stale malt flavors. Sharp bitterness. Hop lingers on the palate. Could use a bit more malt character. Finishes thin. 25 July 09

On tap at the brewery.Lightly hazed gold with an eggshell head. This one didn’t do much for me - like rye added to a typical lager. Solid, but nothing spectacular.

Golden colour. Herbal aroma with some limes. Good bitterness. Lightly herbal, Englishy hops. Clean, with good balance and just a touch of rye spiciness late.
