The aroma has sweetness and notes of malt and spice. The flavour has sweetness and notes of malt, fruit, spice, mostly coriander, but the overall impression still is on the thin side. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Small, shortlived brownish head over hazy, deep dark brown-red beer. Dark, perfumey malts, some speciality grain on the nose. Dry, wry taste, pharmaceutical. Dried fruit preserved in diluted solvent. Real off-flavour at every new sip; wry, nearly tart. Astringent, medium bodied at best, dry-out effect. Ouch. Something gone wrong here, not working. Dry is one thing, astringent OTOH... Miksu (2234), Jyväskylä, Finland

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 4, 2007 New year’s day, Snuffel Hostel, Bruges. Mahogany pour with a reddish halo and a creamy beige head. Lines the glass with lace. Sweet, strawberryish snout. Mildly roasty licorice bitterness lingering unpleasantly after the swallow. A hint of spicy oddness and strawberry-like fruit. Drinks well below the ABV. Refreshing enough, but like the blonde tastes a bit fake and thrown-together. sayravai (3773), Helsinki, Finland
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 16, 2007 (Bottled) Hazy, dark red color with a smallish, slightly tanned head. Ginger-ginsengy aroma with a hint of sourish malt, metal and alcohol. Ginger-spicy flavor, very similar to the blonde version, but with maybe a hint of ashy-roasty malt, more sourness, and more pronounced alcohol. Light to medium-bodied, a bit thin and alcoholic palate with high and foamy carbonation. Not as drinkable as the blonde version, IMO. Won’t buy again (either of them). MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Bottle, 7.5% at the Snuffel Hostel in Brugge. Hazy brown colour with small floaties. Small, stable, creamy light brown head. The flavour is slightly sweet with a quite bitter roastedness. Seems to get a little sourness from the hops. Hint of yeast and alcohol in the aftertaste.
