An explosion of aroma. Cloying sugars, alcohol, yeast, tobacco and raisins. Mellow texture. Mix of sugars and acidic sharpness and dark fruit. Quite nice actually. Wonderful balance. Aroma was a bit offensive at first, but the beer is actually very drinkable. JensenTaster (1587), Denmark

Pours clear brown, with a frothy brownish head - super lacing. Aroma is mild, a bit moldy and caramel sweet. A bit thin mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, though not as sugary as many other faros - more caramel. Some slight tartness. Light oxidation, but not so that it interferes. Some raisins and plums finish it of nicely. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Thanks to Mike for sharing this gem! Looking at these other ratings, maybe this was a magic bottle... as this came off rather differently. ’97 bottle according to Mike. No head at all. Very still caramelly orange. Big sweet nose! Vanilla! Bourbon, really a dead wringer for a decent bourbon, sans signigicant alcohol. Light fruit sweetness to the nose too. Flat. thinnish. Subtle body. Wow! Sweet with a big tannic oaky body (every beer seemed to leave my tongue feeling rough after this one) Oaky vanilla nose foreshadows the big flavor. Fruity slight lambic tartness, but it’s so so so subtle. Very subtle bit of acidity. Leaves the tongue exceptionally rough with tannins. Truly beautiful. yjb (110), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Can’t they see how beautiful you are? Sweet caramel! You remind me of my favorite America’s national drink. People stick things in bourbon barrels to get you’re great taste. You remind me of JP La Roja Grand Reserve. Sweet sour bourbon caramel vanilla yummyness.
