Good retention. Green apple and toffee in the nose. Sweet, tangy flavor with some apple esters. Light to medium-bodied and astringent with soft carbonation. Finishes gently tart, fruity and dry. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Thanks to Secret Santa for this one. I figured a beer that closes out my styles would be appropriate for 2,600. The pour is dark brown, and looks like coppery reddish raspberry iced tea through my desk lamp, with a lot of floaties that look just like tea! The aroma is barleywiney, with a lot of dark fruit, caramelly malts, some molasses, and some peaty bourbony notes. Very nice aroma. The flavor is...wow...unique as hell. Like a dilute barleywine with some citrusy and dark fruity notes, plus a definite oaky bourbony element. Like if you mixed a bit of barleywine with a little bit of lemonade and a tiny bit of single malt bourbon, and then threw some ice in and let it melt. This one is as unique as it gets, and very good. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Bottle. Pours a caramel-brownish body with no head. The aroma isn’t enlightening to say the least - pretty bland, sweet cherry and raspberry along with sugar. Very sweet, mineral softness, sticky and artificial. Syrupy mouthfeel. Not good.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 4, 2006 0.25L Bottle Brown, low blanket head. Aroma has Molassis, horseblanket, and a citric fruityness. Sets in with minerally dustyness, unpleasant chemical notes and horseblanket, a sugary sweet caramel note follows all the way through. Falls a bit flat after that - strangely unharmonic. Sparkly mouthfeel.
Nutty finish.
