The balanced between the acid, sweetness and bitterness out of the wood is combined in this bottle. Some spicyness might occur out of the wines/sherry's maybe? Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Drinks well on its own accord, rather than just as a specialty or curiosity, if you get my drift. When it was gone I wanted another one. tcruicks (282), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Can’t they see how beautiful you are? Sweet caramel! You remind me of my favorite America’s national drink. People stick things in bourbon barrels to get you’re great taste. You remind me of JP La Roja Grand Reserve. Sweet sour bourbon caramel vanilla yummyness. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Looking at these other ratings, maybe this was a magic bottle... as this came off rather differently. ’97 bottle according to Mike. No head at all. Very still caramelly orange. Big sweet nose! Vanilla! Bourbon, really a dead wringer for a decent bourbon, sans signigicant alcohol. Light fruit sweetness to the nose too. Flat. thinnish. Subtle body. Wow! Sweet with a big tannic oaky body (every beer seemed to leave my tongue feeling rough after this one) Oaky vanilla nose foreshadows the big flavor. Fruity slight lambic tartness, but it’s so so so subtle. Very subtle bit of acidity. Leaves the tongue exceptionally rough with tannins. Truly beautiful. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA

Sweetish nose with funny fusel notes, some barnyard, maple syrup, kumquats. Quite sweet, mapley, nutty bitterness, citrus, tamarind. Nate (2552), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA

Nice funky nose, a bit sour, a bit sweet, with mild oak. Has that nice wild yeasty nose, with a bit of floral-herbal hoppyness; wonderful. Dark amber-copper clear with thin off-white head, a few floaties. Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Starts with nice tart character, fruity with yeasty wild funk, oak and apples, winey. Nice bitter character in the finish but not harsh. Sweet-tart finish, mild and very nice. Very nice faro that seems to have held up nicely. I bought their last two bottles to take home - a steal at $7.50, I thought. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 27, 2004 My 300th beer! In the bottle at the Dundee Dell. And what a cool bottle it is: a small 355 ml green champagne bottle. When this arrived at my table, the entire room smelled like Bazooka Joe bubblegum. Pours a muddy, murky brown with lots of sediment. Try as I might, I could not get all the cake of yeast mixed back into the beer. The head was an off-white color that faded fast. Very complex aroma, but mostly bubblegum. The first flavor that hits you is the overpowering sweetness, but that disappears quickly. A strong sour tartness takes its placebut is soon balanced by a wash of malty body in relief. Then the unexpected happens: A tiny little beer pixie pops out and smacks your tongue with a wee little paddle of pepper flavor over and over. Just little taps. And all this happens WITH EACH SIP. Same tastes, same order, each sip. This is one strange beer. I give it high marks for creativity.
