KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Oct 19, 2009 75 cl bottle. 2004 vintage.
Dark red with orange-brown tints, and a tall, fine, head. Jammy raspberry aroma, rather tart, lactic and creamy, with a bit of funk. Very tart lambic with raspberries and cherry, creamy, vanilla and some nuts. Just a bit of horse blanket. This has a perfect sweet and tart balance. Just a bit of sweet fruit under a hugely tart base. Smooth, creamy, rich body. Really wonderful. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Aug 10, 2009 1997 Bottle thanks Joe for sharing at SDBF’09. Ruby amber pour with light white foam. Surprisingly sweet and fruity in the nose 12 years later. Raspberry jam flavors, sweetness becomes slightly more tart towards the bottom of the bottle. Well done brew. MrGGen (221), Italy Jul 27, 2009 Colore rubino vivo, schiuma scarsa e rosacea.Chiaro l’aroma di lamponi e fiori. Il gusto è fruttato, medio asprezza, un pò astringente, zuccherosa. Il finale è equilibrato. Una birra elegante. Anker (305), Hillerød, Denmark Jul 16, 2009 Bottle 2004, traded with hallinghansen.
Pours an hazy ruby colour with a long lasting reddish head.
Aroma is fresh sweet raspberries with a slight sour touch.
The flavour is dry raspberries with a nice sour kick and a dim sweetness in the back.
I miss some cellar like and dusty flavours but quite good anyway. plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark Jul 15, 2009 Bottle 2004 edition. Hazy reddish body with a small pink head. Nice aroma of light sour raspberry and light acid. The flavour is pure sour raspberry. Very refreshing and tastefull. Lovely soft and smooth body. Great Lambic. TheEpeeist (1430), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 4, 2009 750 ml bottle, 1997. Clear purple brown with a ring of white foam. Nose is raspberry jam and mousse with touches of honey and cider vinegar. Juicy and mouth watering with faint pricks of carb. Taste is raspberry, plum, strawberry and vanilla yoghurt. Soft and sweet with light tartness. Maybe a bit faded but still delicious. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jun 1, 2009 Bottle 2004 Vintage, have had this bottle a couple of years unsure where I picked it up, possibly Dranken Geers or Noel Cuviers There are times when having the right beer at the right time make for quite an unforgettable experience. I had a moment like this with Westvleteren 12 in The Kulminator a beer that I’d had before many years back but never rated, it really was quite magical in the Kulminator. There was also the mighty Kaggen on New Years Eve a year or two ago, fantastic! It’s quite difficult to see how drinking Boon Framboise Mariage Parfait whilst cooking ’Tagine Bil Kok’ (tagine of lamb with prunes) down the garden by the raspberry canes on a wonderfully sunny Saturday evening in late May could compare to one of those right time, right place moments for a beer, but it did. The pour was a pinky brown, sometimes looking like old blood in a certain light, it was also a little hazy, the head was light pink a and fluffy. The aroma was pure raspberry jam, soft and squidy raspberries abound on the nose, its a fruit laden corker of an aroma. The taste is simply sumptious, its slightly tart at first but it no way is this sharp, its just so well done those ripe raspberries are soft in the mouth carbonation is fantastic. This is just so refreshing, I simply cannot believe how good this beer is and offer some to Loz to try, Loz is equally stunned into silence. The alcohol in this is just right it offers just the right sort of platform for those juicy flavour’s to flood through. I sip again and those raspberries explode on the tongue, I am so chuffed that this is a 750ml bottle. This isn’t too sweet or too sharp it really is just perfect in my eye’s, you can taste those rapberries, seeds spilling over the lip, wonderful stuff, absolutely wonderful. Gotta get some more!
