Bottle, at Plan B, Copenhagen. Fizzy, clear red colour, initially large head. Aroma is ripe raspberries (no surprise), "over-ripe" perhaps. Fruit garden notes, smells like an "Indian summer" day. Also notes of blackberries. Flavour is again raspberries, not too sour, well balanced, vinous qualities. A supreme fruit lambic.

Bottle of the 2000 Vintage Clear, red body. Lightly pink, fizzy head which diminishes mostly. Lightly sweet raspberry aroma. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately bitter, lightly acidic finish. Lightly to medium bodied. Fizzy carbonation. The raspberry flavour is quite complex, but not dominated by the complexity as a Westy is, but rather dominated by simplicity with complexity underneath it (but you have to look carefully).

Strawberry color, big pink head. Great fruit and barnyard aroma. Subtle barn tastenotes with a pleasant fruityness. Light sparkly body. Fruity aftertaste.

Bottled 2000 Vintage: Red coloured. Reddish dense head. Distinct raspberry nose. Very sweet and acidic. Flavour as well has loads of raspberries. Has some vague sournotes. This is a very tasty fruit lambic, thats quite easy to drink .

Mariage Parfait, vinatge 2000
Clear red with red head. Sharp rasberry nose, even a bit metallic. Vry fruity, sharp, metallic but fresh framboise. It gets water run in your mouth.

VINTAGE 1986, Bouteille, 75 cL.

(Bottle 75 cl) Vintage 1995. 200 grams of cherries for every liter leaves it’s mark: nice pink colour with a white head, almost clear. Extremely fruity, berry-like nose. Perfectly balanced between the sweet and sour. Sometimes framboises can be an overly cloying affair, but never here. 040799

A Mes rate: Oh how I love this one. I was expecting the Mariage Parfait to have more obvious lambic characteristics but there is not too much sourness nor as much dryness as I would have thought. I must admit initially this was a slight disappointment but the more I drink of this the more I like it. Firstly the looks are glorious. In our framboise champagne flutes it was an almost clear, pinkish brown at the bottom turning a lovely raspberry red towards the top and crowned with a welcoming, almost white head. Then the nose. It is quite clearly jam roly poly like my mum and nan used to make. Bit of rhubarb crumble in there too. Full bodied and quite sweet but not too much so. The raspberries are clearly apparent and the addition of that little bit extra alcohol makes it just that little bit special. The lambic tendancies show up a little for the finish with a slight sourness that once finished leaves a fantastic lick of the berries. My god this is great.
