A Mes rate: Bottled during the Toer de Geuze. Attractive reddy pink colour with a slight bubbly head. Plenty of fruit in the aroma with some delicate sounrness and a little pepper. Flavour is great. Balances out really well between a gentle lambic sourness and a restrained sweetness from the berries. Soft yet prickly mouthfeel that I really like. Good stuff.

Garnet and deep red pour. Straight raspberry aroma with small hints of peat and sawdust. Slightly oversugared taste with the plastic edge of soda. Eventually highlights the sourness and the dryness of the raspberry - it’s more felt than really tasted in the mouth. Moss and hints of caramel even. Aftertaste is slightly pungent with farmish sourness, but only at length following salt water mist. Not the most intriguing.

2005 vintage at the Hopdevil
Poured a murky red colour with no head. A pungent raspberry nose with weak notes of sulphur from time to time. A refreshing taste, nice raspberry foreground with a salty-sourish background and aftertaste. Not nearly as funky as the kriek, and not all that complex, but, as I said, nice and refreshing. However, with the (around) 5 Euro price tag, I doubt that I’ll be getting it again.

Bottle. Sweet aroma. Old raspberries. Dark maroon appearance. Looks like raspberry juice. Flavor is raspberry. Think of eating a raspberry. Very sweet, mildly thick. Medium lacing. Bitter, sour palate. Sugary aftertaste.

bottle from Plaza Liquor - Pours a hazy dark red color with a thin pink head that faded quickly. Aroma is berries and light yeast. Has a slightly tart, almost fizzy, raspberry flavor. Light to medium body. I think I like this beer more than any other raspberry framboises I’ve had. It’s fairly smooth and not so tart. A very nice raspberry Lambic.

2003 vintage. Dirty blood red, almost dull brown in colour. Unexpected, perhaps the result of both ageing and a touch of oxidation. Thin persistent head of good depth. Fruit driven nose, a little tart, but the sweet berry fruits are very evident. The first couple of sips were marred (almost severly) but a pongy, bitter sulphuric-like kick. Like bottle stink in wine. This character did subside over time but still always lurked in the background. Otherwise the palate looked decent; aged strawberries, a hint of old wood, and fading tart fruits. I reckon this might have looked better as a 2 or 3 year old.

75 cl bottle, 2004. Vermilion coloured and slightly turbid, covered with a pinkish velvety head which rapidly disappears. Nose of raspberries (jam) and spring meadow. The taste is sweetish-sour, fruity (raspberries, citrus, apples) and reveals a touch of wood in the aftertaste. Fizzy water-like mouthfeel and a rounded finish.

Bottle, 25 cl. Red color, little white head, which disappears rather fast. Aroma: raspberry, wilde yeast, sweetness. Framboise based on oude gueuze. The Taste to little sourness with a dry aftertaste.
