Pours a deep raspberry red, elegant with a nice fine head.
The aroma is dominated by rich raspberry syrup as you might find over cheesecake at a first-rate restaurant. It also provides hints of vinegar and a definite twist of barnyard funk.
The raspberries come on strong on the front side of the taste, and the beer is initially sweet, flirting with too sweet before the flavor turns, bringing forth a tart and markedly dry, woody, and plenty of barnyard (never overwhelming). The mouthfeel is sparkling, refreshing, rich early, crisp late, all around very nice on a hot summer’s day.
Thi s is really, really good. It’s maybe a mark too sweet for my personal preference, but it’s a very fine beer. Kinz (2207), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA

Russet color with a pretty good head. Syrupy raspberry sits atop some oaky barnyard funk, with a surprisingly bitter finish that borders on medicinal. Tasty, sort of a compromise between the bracing acidity of Cantillon and the syrupy fruit focus of Lindeman’s. harrisoni (6800), Ashford, Kent, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2006 Bottle. Rusty russet colour. Lasting thin white head. Raspberry and cream aroma with some sourness evident. Full syrupy raspberry sweetish syrup and cream in mouth. Then odd sourness on finish. It just does not fit in with the rest of it. It is certainly the lowest rating that I have given for a Boon beer. Raspberry syrup is quite pleasing but it could be better. RichardGretton (3148), Leicestershire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2006 Bottle. Muddy reddish beer with a mild head. The aroma is dulled strawberry and the flavour is initially vinous, then sour, then strawberry and then bitter. Overall a pleasant beer but not as good as I was expecting. eaglefan538 (2368), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2006 Color was burgundy with some orange hues, very thin initial head, not much but a ring around the edges after the first minutes. The lacing was non-existent. The aroma was raspberries with some barnyard funk and leather. The flavor was leather, funky cheese, light rubber, and some citrus. This was a pretty enjoyable beer, definitely funky, but the raspberry was assertive, far more assertive than Cantillon, not nearly as tart, but a distance behind the marketted syrup lambics that the other Belgians brewers produce. A great example of the fruit lambic style without overwhelming the unsuspecting with tart and funk, shock and awe.... yet not sugared up, either! maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA
