Mayhaps that explains the problem that I have in understanding fruit lambics, particularly the framboise. The raspberries that I eat aren’t sour. When fresh, they’re quite sweet, perhaps with a bit of a sweet/sour nip at the finish. But they’re sweet overall. Now I drink a brew that tastes like a raspberry soda gone bad. It’s not unpleasant, but what’s the attraction? It’s got a nice ruby color, a thin white head, the aroma of a Sweet Tart candy, and the taste of sour raspberries. Personally, I feel a fruit juice would be as refreshing... although it doesn’t have a 5% abv, I’ll grant you. Odeed (1682), Bakersfield, California, USA

this lambic gave me an appearance much like a nice iced tea.the aroma contained rasberry and that sour lambic signature.i expected a bit more rasberry in the flavor due to the taste.most of what i got was a sourness and some carbonation, with the fruit hidden in the back.pretty good stuff but i like a bit more fruit in my lambics. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2005 Dark red and amber color with a large white head. The aroma is as expected, raspberries and some dry funky barnyard. A fairly tame aroma for a lambic, though. The taste is fruitier than I expected. The raspberries are almost overwhelming. While the funky barnyard is certainly in the background, it isn’t overwhelming by any means. Almost too sweet. Has an interesting dry finish I haven’t experienced before. veronika (410), Sweden
