1996 bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark red, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately yeasty (horseblanket, barnyard), with notes of cherry, cask wood, earth, and cranberry. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, heavily acidic. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, lightly astringent. Great stuff, but I think I actually like the Oude Kriek a little better.

The softest, subtlest gueuze underneath; far less sour and with absolutely no artificial or "snappy" fruitiness compared to other guezes - even good ones!; in the Mariage Parfaits everything is blended perfectly. There's some freshly wet wood aroma, soft cherry, some acidic wafts...Thanks Slikwily!

1995. Strong lambic sour nose, hints of wood, burning wood, cherries and mint. Light mouthfeel, very, very carbonated. It has lost a lot of it's cherry nature, but is strong on sour mustiness, some horseblanket. This all hides the cherry flavor, and I've heard that the fruit blended lambics should be served much earlier than 8 years. This doesn't take away from it's complexity and playfulness on my tongue. Very acidic, citrusy, and thin at the finish.

big thanks to captaincouger for this one. This pours a beautiful red, with orange highlights. The head is small and pink. The head disappears quickly. Per the suggestion from "Brewmaster's Table" I paired this beer with some fresh goat cheese and pate. It was great. The aroma is musty with some cherry. It finishes very dry. 1995 vintage. Loved it.

1995 vintage. Cork pops with definite authority. Pours a dark ruby red with a wispy rose pink head. Nose is Musty, oaky with sweet cherry and Japanese pickled plums. First taste reveals a medium bodied brew with the flavor of old leather, cherries, oak. Has a weird sweet and sour aspect battling for dominance but neither gains any ground. Finishes dry and thankfully not as astringent as some Lambics.

cloudy reddish brown, light pink head. beautiful complex aroma, dried cherries, wood, red wine, vinegar, leather, mustiness. soft mouthfeel, not so champagne-like as some other lambics I've had, is still quite nice. good follow through and complexity in the flavour. excellent. thanks slikwily!

Big ole bottle pours a burned red color with a good off white to tan head that sustains with some lace sheets. The aroma is quite earthy and cherry like. The flavor is dry like good champagne with sour cherry and finishes dry and lemony. The palate is light like champagne also. Overall, yes this is one of the finest. Would I choose it as a style? Probably not.

1995:Hazy,red/oarnge. Fizzy head, leaves lasting, ring in Orval glass. Sour cherries, resting in wood and cobwebs. Quite a bit of malt in the aroma as it warms. Mouthfeel has perfect carbonation, and is dry. Fairly small body, almost creamy. Starts with flavors of iron, wood, malt, and must. Slight cherry, and perfectly balanced sourness. Mouthfeel becomes very soft, and the earthy/cherry/dirt flavors become more evident as it warms. Finish has oak, spice, and subtle cherry pit notes. This bottle seems that it would be in it's prime and is in excellent condition. The last rating had me scared, but when in the mood,I don't see how you could derive more pleasure from a kriek. Thanks to slikwily for this wonderful beer!
