Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 21, 2004 I had an old version of this one - maybe that accounts for my not that overwhelming impression. The the color is brown and it has no head. The aroma is of wood and ammoniac. The flavor was sour - as it is supposed to be - but with strong notes of ammoniac. The ammoniac really draws this beer down for me - I have to try to find it again. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 25, 2002 Cherry red. Acidic, balanced with nice cherry aroma. Balnced and complex.
Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Feb 14, 2001 Updated: Oct 9, 2003Voluptuous head. Deep cherry red, with orange hints. Complex aroma: oak, cherry, ammonia. Tart palate, but with sweetness at the back. Cherry notes, some vague nuttiness, spice and wood. Full, rounded body. Finishes sweetish, fruitier and nutty. Very rounded for a hardcore lambic, but also very clean (lack of funkiness), save for the phenols. joergen (6340), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 14, 2005 Bottled from 198? at RBESG 2005.
Muddy red brown coloured with an off white head.
Acidic aroma with notes of wood, sherry and balsamic vinegar.
Sour flavour of wood with murky notes. argo0 (6176), Washington DC, USA Nov 16, 2004 (1996) Brown-red body. Aroma is minimally sweet, cherry, medium sour, some horseblanket. Taste is minimally sweet, cherry, moderately sour, horseblanket. Watery, light-medium body, moderate acidity. This appears to be past its prime -- I would have liked to try it sooner. Many thanks to cquiroga for sharing it with me.
