Bottle, 30.06.2008: Not sure why the lambics that don’t knock your socks off with offensiveness get killed for being "out of style" or inferior. This certainly fell short of the joker versions that are over-sweetened with sugar fruit syrup, although it was pleasant and mildly sweet to the tongue. If the category were a fruit beer, it would kick butt, even give NG Belgian Red a run for the money. In any event, poured a pinkish red color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was all cherries. The flavor was straight forward smooth cherries, nothing tart or offensive about this. Complexity wasn’t intense, a touch of vanilla mixed in the pot, background of very light funk. Refreshing and smooth, highly carbonated mouthfeel.

Tasted 25/05/2006. 375ml bottle from New World Metro, Wellington. Cherry red (funnily enough), almost bright, garnet tints in the light. A light pink airy foam rises up and diminishes to a thin lasting head. Little lace. Almonds, marzipan and sour fruit dominate the nose - no real "lambic" notes. The mouth displays a short barley sugar sweetness before becoming all sour cherry through the middle and into the finish. Some sourness and lolly notes linger, before a powdery yeast note resides on the palate and asks you to take another sip. Light-medium weight, with a nice sparkle of carbonation. Big but clean sweet and sour notes here. Much better than the other easily to find "lambic-pop" but lacking the real qualities of a true one. Seems more like a pleasant sour ale to me.

375 ml bottle, 2003 vintage. Pours a clear reddish colored body under a pink tinged fizzy head with decent retention due to fairly active carbonation. Aroma is of candy sweet cherry puree and a light tartness at the same time. Flavor is actually pretty decent, not overly sweet but certainly meant to appeal to a wide audience. Finish is lightly tart and hints at some of the underlying lambic character buried beneath all the sugar. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fizzy efforvescent carbonation. Hey, overall, it is what it is. It’s an OK beer in and of itself, just not when compared to the more "traditional" lambics.

Best before 12/10/2008. Pours burgundy into a tumbler. Pink micro bubble head. Mix of sweet and dark cherry aromas. Upfront medium-bodied aged lambic with a bitter cherry chapstick finish.

Bottle. Pours cloudy, muddy ruby with a huge frothy pinkish head, lasting. Aroma is sweet, tart cherries and yeast (oak, cellar). Medium sweetness and bitterness, a nice contrast in this beer, some sour lemon, citrus notes, and a sour finish. Medium bodied and foamy palate.
