| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2009 A great compliment to chocolates or cherries. Very strong sour cherry aroma, that overwhelms you a bit. Sourness is well balanced with sweetness, and cherries come through at every level of the tasting. Has a bit of a soda feel to it, but more sour and complex. A really nice lambic, but it definitely blurs the lines between beer, champagne and wine. A great compliment to dessert though. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2009 Pours a gorgeous dark crimson hue that is mostly clear, but shows a very slight bit of haze. A head of pink foam settles slowly to a thin but lasting blanket, while pronounced diagonal flares of frosted lacing cling to the glass. The nose is big on sweet cherries, showing almost like a parfait, with a surprising cream component. Mildly funky, lactic yeast comes through, but there’s very little acidity in the aroma, which is a bit different for a lambic. Flavors mirror the nose, showing mostly sweet dark cherries and lactic cream, with very little lambic funkiness or acidity. Smooth, silky, and creamy on the tongue, the mouthfeel avoids seemingly certain cloyingness and in fact matches the brew perfectly. This is a beginner’s lambic, for sure, far too sweet to appease sourheads like myself, but it’s tastiness is undeniable and reminiscent of a cherry soda from the days of my youth. Similar to New Glarus Belgian Red. Think of it as a fruit beer and you’ll be more satisfied with it. riversideAK (2736), Shoreline, Washington, USA

Aroma of cherry juice, sweetness, touch of oak notes, and a minute amount of old funky notes. Pours reddish pink, hazy with no head. Cherry sweetness up front, lightly tart in the finish with perhaps a little horse blanket in the finish. Mostly juicy and sweet but natural making it pleasant and drinkable.
