Bottle shared via piscator34, nice to finally try this gueze. Pours a slightly hazed golden straw, one finger white head. Nose- nice pungent sour fruits, vinegar, earthy. Taste- not quite as sour as expected given the sharp smell to the beer, but still had a nice citrus /apple tartness. Thin mouthfeel with a dry earthy quality to the finish. Very easy drinking and high carbonation. Alcohol is hidden for size the of this gueze.

Bottled sample. Dark gold in colour with a few floaties and spritzy carbonation. Very potent sour aromas of lemon and orange with undertones of dried wood. Way more mellow in the mouth than expected. The sour fruits are upfront again, but without being overly tart or sour. Mild wood and funk are present as well. Rounded mouthfeel without the heavy acidic attack of a Cantillon or Girardin, but still quite dry. Good stuff, but my preference would be for a more sour gueuze.

2003 vintage bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Tiny offwhite head. Hazy, well carbonated, golden brown colored body. A crisp lemony tartness in the aroma. Notes of metal, fresh wood and stable. Sour-sweet citric fruit flavors with stong notes of piney bitterness. Healthy body. Dry, tart fruity finish. A very powerful Gueuze.

375 ml bottle, 2004. Clear orange with a thick meringue head that settles to a smooth skin. Nose is lemon custard, pear, banana, lemon peel and light barnyard. Zesty and sparkling with a silky finish. Taste is lemon candy, green melon, pear, tomatillo and grapefruit juice. Beautiful fruity notes balanced by tart and sour citrus. Malty finish with a slight pucker. Excellent. Hmmm, i see this is not so highly rated; maybe i got a particularly good batch?

Pours a golden clear color with a large wispy white head that clings the glass with thicks sheets of lacing. Nose is sharp with tart, sour, funk, salt, citrus, apple, vinegar. Initial taste has some old "penny" metallic upfront flavors, wood, apples and citrus. Mid palate displays some earthy, grainy notes with sour background. Finishing dry, bitter, apples still lingering. Refreshing and funky. Balanced well. Looking for some more flavor. Great head retention and lacing of the glass. Palate duration above average. Body is light to medium with silky mouth feel.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy orange body with vigourous carbonation. Wooden metallic barnyard aroma, feels tart. Harmonic. Intense bitter wooden metallic barnyard taste. Thin body. Sharp mouthfeel. Interesting and unusual. (0.355l bottle from Ole R.)

Maybe a bit of oxide in the aroma. Quite funky. I think all four of the adjectives on the bottle describing this beer are accurate. Tart, dry, sparkling and refreshing. Don’t know if I’ve ever agreed with a label completely before. You can add funky to it as well.

A traditional bottle-conditioned gueuze, spontaneously fermented, and a step above the regular Boon gueuze, which is most likely sweetened and not conditioned. Citrus flavors with moderate sourness and a dry, bitter finish. Ages well.
