Bottle. Funky on the nose: lots of barnyard notes. Very dry and sour on the palate. Quite acidic with just a hint of lemon zest sourness. Finishes quite dry.

375ml bottle from Sam’s, Durham. A lovely bottle-conditioned beer, with that sweet mist coming out directly as the cork pops. Smells big, funky, and bretty right away, with a handsome amber pour that initially makes me think of JP’s La Roja. But the beer grows increasingly dry, with a superb citrus quality that recalls a fine pinot grigio. Excellent.

Found this one at the Blue Max in MN. Slightly sweet sour nose with plenty of barnyard head. Hazy gold color with a dry sour body with more of that barnyard flavor. Dry finish.

375 ml bottle courtesy JoeMcPhee, best before 26.01.2026. Golden amber colour with a full lasting fizzy, rocky, and creamy off-white head. Burst of lemon, hay, branyard, yeast, cobweb, grapefruit, and earthy aroma. Dusty, yeasty, earthy, lightly acidic and tart lemon and grapefruit flavours with a grapefruit pithy bitter finish. Light bodied, dry, effervescent and refreshing. Not as mouth puckering and sour as most of the good gueuzes, but still incredibly refreshing, complex, and delicious. And 8% abv? No sign of that whatsoever.

Bottle shared by brewfiend and akevitt, pours a clear light gold brew with an average-sized, slow diminishing white head. Aroma of malty toasted multi-grain with herb-like hops, yeasty with some tartness. Taste is moderately bitter with dry character and light body. Very carbonated and fizzy. Finish is slightly tart and then clean.

Bottle at the ’Seventh Heaven’ in the small town of Beernem in Belgium, it took a while to settle to its golden colour with a frothy white head. A strong sour aroma with some grain and grassy notes. A very strong sour palate, filling the whole mouth with some cider flavours. But then became very smooth in the lingering finish. Good, but lacks a bit of character against some other lambics.

Clear deep golden colour with a dense white head. Malty, fruity and tart aroma with dusty and sweaty notes. Malty, sweet and tart flavor with notes of wood and sweat. Quite complex and refreshing.

375mL bottle, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a hazy, orange-golden color; fluffy white head with great lacing. Very funky, tart citrus and horseblanket aroma. Medium mouthfeel: plenty of tart citrus and funk; lively carbonation, but without a really dense sour core; a slight metallic note in there. Medium, slightly tart and dry finish.
